Climbing @ Movement
On a rope even. Having been beaten to a pulp from my bouldering session yesterday, I didn’t have too many goals, but after a warmup on a 9, and embarrassing myself on the hand crack, I managed to scratch up a few 12-‘s fairly confidently. Some more work on the crack to try to remember how to climb that, and then we finished the session.
Green Mountain
A proper fart-about. Took a reasonably trail-free route to the base of the ridge just to the south of The Regency, featuring a good overlook of most of the flatirons you can see from the south. Observe,
I’ll have to come back yet again with a good camera, and better lighting. Really enjoyed this view.
Afterwards, I kept on wandering up the ridge that turns into essentially the north ridge of Hillbilly Rock. I dropped down a bit here rather than hugging the ridge, and bumped into some Royals boulders and some stashed pads, but then surprisingly found some fresh-enough tracks heading towards an area I’ve never been to, so I decided to follow.
This led somewhat uphill, but downslope from where I usually go up. Finding a new line in the flatirons is certainly a rarity for me. Tons of fun navigating the boulders, as the path weaved me towards the Ameboid and the Hourglass – it’s the next generation’s Satellites bouldering area back there. I enjoyed finding passageways much like the Tangen Tunnel route as I made my way up across Schmoe’s Nose and into terrain I’m more familiar with. From there, it was a quick bop from the main ridge to the summit of Green Mountain. Good times.
