Along with UL Tents, we’ve updated the UL Sleeping Bag reviews at Outdoor GearLab. This was mostly a streamlining of the products we were showcasing, as many of my own favorite sleeping bags have been discontinued for the time being because of the banning of PFAS, which many of these bags were manufactured with (my guess in mostly in the hydrophobic down treatments).
My personal favorite was the Sea to Summit Spark 30, which is what I used in many of my favorite trips this past summer. It’s well-designed, packs down small, and weighs very little. As someone with pretty broad shoulders, it was also a nice bonus that the bag had the girth for my to sleep in it without feeling claustrophobic. I usually packed it the Gossamer Grit 28 without its included compression sack, so that the bag took all the available internal space of the pack, negating a lot of jostling and bounce you may experience (free pro tip for you).
