Wednesday

Ultimate Direction Visit

Had a great time with the UD team and athletes Jason Schlarb and Amelie Boone as we talked gear. Also was a part of a biz meeting, and photo shoot I had no prior knowledge of. I’m not the most comfortable with my mirror-cracking looks, but the photos that were produced were absolute fire and I can’t wait to see if they ever make it to the light of day.

Bouldering @ Movement, 2 hours

Good, low-key session, highlighted with a V8 top after only a few goes. I had tried this boulder before, but couldn’t get it done, as the first crimp is very tough on my fingers.

Good V6 in the corner, as well.

Rest.

Friday

Bouldering @ Movement, 2 hours

Pretty terrible session, with little to gain. Still pretty destroyed from Wednesday, but as always happy to have the privilege to do these silly hobbies.

Saturday – Tuesday

Slowlans Recon: Missouri to Massive

Finishing up the line started two weeks ago with a slight twist: I made it into a loop! 26 miles to hook up with where I finished off. This was a much bigger trip then I planned, but in the end, I was able to finish things up. Boy howdy.

Thursday

Boulder @ Movement, 2 hours

Certainly not recovered from Slowlans part 2, I thought it would be nice to move around a bit. Surprisingly, my climbing shoes fit as my feet weren’t terribly swollen, so I took a whack at bouldering a bit, with no real agenda. Set my eyes at an overhanging V6 that starts on a giant flake for both hands and a foot, then moves to tiny crimps. Surprised myself on getting the problem in two parts, but didn’t have the energy to put it together. (Work up the next day feeling really wrecked!)

Friday

Spin Bike, 1 hour

The hardest part about these big days is knowing you need to rest and recoup, or you’ll just keep breaking down. This is very, very hard for me, as I just want to go go go! It’s still pretty early in the summer season, so I have to remind myself to pace myself and remember the large goals I’ve set.

Saturday

Bouldering @ Movement, 2 hours

Got that weird V6, then worked on the new set on more vertical terrain. Managed to do something to my front shoulder trying a bit too hard. As of Monday, feels alright.

Sunday

Spin Bike, 1 hour

Still feeling pretty worked, but able to hobble out a short spin on the bike machine thing.
